Filename Suffixes Recognized by GENESIS

GENESIS knows about many different file formats. These file formats are distinguished by appending a common suffix to the filename. GENESIS knows about the following suffixes:

• .evl A file that contains the time stamps of a series of events.
• .g3p A GENESIS 3 project file for use with the G-Tube.
• .g3 A file format that contains gshell commands.
• .g A file format that contains GENESIS 2 SLI commands (but can also be read by GENESIS 3).
• .ndf The Neurospaces Description Format used by the model-container to describe models.
• .nms A binary file format that contains the state of a simulation.
• .nxf An XML representation of the .ndf format. Both the .nxf and the .ndf formats describe the same type of information.
• .out A file with simulation output.
• .per A file format that describes the state of the G-Tube, describing a perspective on a simulation project.
• .p A morphology file of the GENESIS 2 SLI.
• .ssp A configuration file for the SSP scheduler.

Common Filename Suffixes recognized by GENESIS

As part of the GENESIS Documentation System, GENESIS recognizes a number of file name suffixes. If included as a tag in a descriptor.yml file, any files with the following suffixes will be incorporated into the documentation system if the source files are present in the top level documentation folder. The default file format for the creation of documents is the .tex LATEX format. See Document Creation for further details.

• .tex GENESIS Documentation System default (requires no tag).
• .eps Encapsulated postscript.
• .html Hypertext markup language.
• .pdf Portable document format.
• .png Portable network graphics.
• .ps Postscript.

Note that both audio and video files may also be added to the GENESIS Documentation System.

Audio File Formats recognized by GENESIS

• .wav Windows’ native file format for storing digital audio data.
• .mp3 MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3 (MP3), is a digital audio encoding format for audio storage.
